2010 Junior High Soccer Summaries

Temple vs Farragut – 10/27/2010

The Crusaders came out to finish off the season with a win in their last game of the season against Farragut. Nathan Green scored twice in the first half to give Temple the lead at half time. Landon Beard, Matthew Johnson, Austin Ford, and Scott Crabtree all played a solid midfield during the game. While holding on to the 2-0 lead, Farragut was award a penalty kick. Peter Ewing, nicknamed by the team “The Wall”, made the save to help keep Temple’s shut out hopes alive. In the second half, Grant Hickman and Preston Hickman each scored to finish off Farragut with the final score of 4-0. Once again, the defense rose to the occasion by not allowing the other team to score. Grant Ryan, Daniel Scansen, Jud Mason, Gage Woosley, and Blake Gilliland led the defense. Sean McGinnis was solid in goal, recording his 4th shutout of the season. The Crusaders finished off the season with the final record of 5-1.

Temple vs Sterchi – 10/13/2010

After a tough lost, the Crusaders bounced back and dominated Sterchi. The team played well in the first half. Temple came out with a goal by Jordan Sullivan who received a pass from Grant Hickman in the first 30 seconds of the game. Preston Hickman and Nathan Green each scored a goal as well to give the Crusaders a 3-0 lead at half time. In the second half, the Crusaders continued to pressure Sterchi and scored 3 more before the end of the game. Grant Hickman, Jordan Sullivan, and Preston Hickman each scored for the Crusaders in the second half. It was a great team defensive effort with Matt Johnson, Landon Beard, and Scott Crabtree controlling the midfield. In the back, Grant Ryan played great with help from Gage Woosley, Blake Gilliland, Jud Mason, and Daniel Scensen. Temple won the game with the final score of 6-0 and is now 4-1 overall.

Temple vs Seymour – 10/13/2010

The Crusaders traveled to Seymour, TN to face a tough team. The Crusaders fell behind early in the gae and never could catch back up. The Crusaders lost their first game of the season with the final score of 2-10. Jordan Sullivan and Grant Hickman scored the two goals for the Crusaders.

East Knoxville vs Temple – 10/9/2010

After two big wins, the Junior High soccer team prepared for their third game of the season. The Crusaders were able to score three goals before half time to take a 3-0 lead. Alex Gann tallied in his first goal of the season to get the scoring started. Scottie Crabtree also scored his first goal of the season followed by Preston Hickman. In the second half the Crusaders continued to dominate and scored another three goals before the end of the game. Grant Hickman scored one, while Jordan Sullivan and Grant Ryan each scored their first goal of the season. Shawn McGinnis and Peter Ewing combined, in goal, for their second shut out of the season. The Crusaders won easily with the final score of 6-0.

West Knoxville vs Temple – 10/2/2010

The Junior High Soccer team played their second game of the season at home against West Knoxville. In the first half, Temple controlled the game early by scoring two goals. Grant Hickman was the one to score both goals. The defense and goalkeeper were solid, making great plays to help keep Temple in the game. The team showed good possession with the help of midfielders Preston Hickman and Matt Johnson. The score at half time was 2-2. In the second half, the Royal Crusaders came out and pressed the action with some great defensive plays led by Grant Ryan and Daniel Scansen. Early in the half, Matt Johnson scored the third goal off a corner kick with the assists going to Grant Hickman and Jordan Sullivan. Late in the game Grant Hickman was able to find the goal once again to give him a hat trick for the game. The defensive held on against the pressure and won the game with the final score of 4-3. The Crusaders are now 2-0.

Temple @ Lakeshore – 9/18/2010

The Junior High school team traveled to down to Forks at the River to play Lakeshore on Saturday, Sept. 18, 2010. In the first half, the Crusaders came out fired up. The team controlled the ball most of the half. The defensive players, Daniel Scansen, Judson Mason, and Grant Ryan, made some great plays in the half. Preston Hickman scored the only goal of the half to give the Crusaders a 1-0 lead at half time. In the second half the Crusaders continued to dominate the game. The Crusaders were led by a strong group of mid-fielders, such as Jordan Sullivan, Austin Ford, Preston Hickman, and Matthew Johnson. Grant Hickman scored 3 more goals before the end of the game, giving him his first hat trick of the season. The first goal was from a penalty kick, the second off of a corner kick, and the third goal was a shot taken by Grant that went in. Shawn McGinnis and Peter Ewing both had some great goalie saves in the game. “We were very happy with the effort everyone gave and they played really hard, controlling the game from start to finish” comment by the coaches. The Royal Crusaders are know 1-0 and will play next on October 2, 2010.
