2010 Junior High Volleyball Game Summaries

Temple @ Apostolic Christian – 9/30/2010

The Lady Crusaders to traveled to Maryville, TN to face Apostolic Christian on Thursday evening. In the first match the Lady Crusaders won with the score of 25-21. The Lady Crusaders struggled and lost the second match with the score of 22-25. In the third and final match, both teams were fighting hard to get the victory. The Crusaders were able to pull out and win the match and game with the score of 15-9. Olivia Gilliland and Shaylyn Olinger led the Lady Crusaders in serves. Allison Cate stepped up and helped the team out tremendously. Coach Jones says that everyone played together well, and was excited about the win. The Lady Crusaders are now 10-5 overall.

Temple @ Maryville/St. Lutheran – 9/21/2010

The Lady Crusaders traveled to Maryville for a Tri-Match again Maryville and St. Lutheran. In the first match the Lady Crusaders faced Maryville Christian. The Lady Crusaders won the first set pretty easily with score of 25-17. In the second set, the Lady Crusaders struggled and ended up losing the set with the score of 21-25. It came down to the third set, and both teams fought hard to win. The Lady Crusaders could not pull it out and lost the set and the game with the score of 11-15. After the tough loss, the Lady Crusaders had to face St. Lutheran. The Lady Crusaders got off to a great start and won the match easily with the score of 26-24 and 25-11. Cheyenne Smith and Olivia Gilliland led the team in serving. The Lady Crusaders are now 9-5 and will play at home on Tuesday September 28, 2010.

Temple vs Episcopal/Concord – 9/17/2010

The Lady Crusaders played a double header on Friday night at home against Episcopal and Concord. In the first game the Lady Crusaders faced Episcopal. The Lady Crusaders came out fired up ready to play shutting down Episcopal two straight games. The Lady Crusaders won both games easily with the score of 25-13 and 25-11. Olivia Gilliland, Cheyenne Smith and Shaylyn Olinger led the team in serving for the game. In the second game the Lady Crusaders had to face Concord. The Lady Crusaders lost the first set with the score of 21-25. In the second set the Lady Crusaders came back with a lot of intensity and won it easily. The score of set two was 25-16. In the set was neck and neck to the end but Temple just could not hold to win the game. The Lady Crusaders lost with the score of 15-17. Olivia Gilliland led the team in serving. Coach Jones was extremely proud of the way the girls played in the both games. “These two games will only make us better players and a better team” said Coach Jones. The Lady Crusades will face Maryville on Tuesday, September 21, 2010.

Temple @ King’s Academy/St. Mary’s – 9/16/2010

The Lady Crusaders traveled to King’s Academy for a Tri-match. In the first match the Lady Crusaders faced King’s Academy. Temple fought hard in the first set but ended up losing with the score of 20-25. In the second set, the Lady Crusaders continued to fight hard but lost set two with the score of 22-25. The Lady Crusaders played very well against King’s but couldn’t pull it together at the end. The Lady Crusaders had to bounce back and play St. Mary’s. In the first set the Lady Crusaders took an early lead and won set one with the score of 25-20. In the second set the Lady Crusaders dominated and won with the score of 25-12. Olivia Gilliland led the team in serving. The Lady Crusaders are now 7-3 overall.

Temple @ St. Joseph – 9/10/2010

On Friday evening, the Lady Crusaders traveled across town to face St. Joseph, a challenging team with strong servers and many good hitters. The Lady Crusaders fought hard but lost the game losing both matches with the scores of 18-25 and 19-25. Leading the Crusaders in serving was Brooke James. Coach Jones feels confident that the experience will make the girls a better volleyball team as the season progresses. The Lady Crusaders are now 6-2 overall and will face St. Mary’s and King’s Academy on Thursday, Sept. 16.

Temple @ Freedom/Webb – 9/7/2010

The Lady Crusaders traveled to Freedom Christian Academy to play Freedom and Webb in a Tri-Match. In the first game against Webb School the Lady Crusaders dominated by winning both matches. The scores of the matches were 25-20 and 25-10. In game two against Freedom Christian Academy the Lady Crusaders continued to dominate the game by easily winning both matches. The scores of the matches were 25-20 and 25-15. Shaylyn Olinger and Olivia Gilliland led the team in serving during both matches. The Lady Crusaders are now 6-1 overall.

Temple @ Webb/Freedom – 9/3/2010

The Lady Crusaders traveled to Webb School on Friday night for a tri-match between Webb School and Freedom. In the first match the Lady Crusaders dominated, winning both sets with scores of 25-11 and 25-17. Anita Harrison led the team in serves with 11 straight points. Karsyn Bonifacius helped out the team with some powerful serves. Olivia Gilliland, Brooke James, Ashlee Anderson, and Cheyenne Smith all had great performances in the match. In match two the Lady Crusaders continued to control the match and won both sets easily. The score of the sets were 25-10 and 25-16. Shaylyn Olinger and Abby Ryan led the team in serving with great performances by Natalie Hibbard, Makayka Landrum, Nicole Kirtley and Allison Cate. Coach Jones said that “the team is improving with each game and it has been exciting watching them as they learn and grow into better athletes. I expect the next game will have an even better performance.”

Temple vs Apostolic Christian Academy - 9/2/2010

The Lady Crusaders played their first home game on Thursday night against Apostolic Christian Academy. In the first match the Lady Crusaders dominated. Temple won match one with the score of 25-4. In the second match the Lady Crusaders continued to control the game, winning match two with the score of 25-12. Cheyenne Smith led the team in serving. Coach Jones said that the team had great performances and everyone got good playing time. The Lady Crusaders will travel to Webb School on Friday, September 3.

Temple @ Knoxville Christian/Berean - 8/31/2010

The Junior High Volleyball team opened their season on Tuesday night. The Lady Crusaders traveled across town for a Tri-Match at Knoxville Christian. In the first game the Lady Crusaders faced Berean Academy. The young ladies won the first two matches against Berean to win the first game. The scores of the games were 25-23 and 25-22. In the second game, the Lady Crusaders face Knoxville Christian. The Lady Crusaders played some tough matches, but ended up losing the game. The scores for the game were 12-25 and 19-25. Karsyn Bonifacius stepped it up and played very well leading the team in serving. Olivia Gilliland also led in serves. The girls did very well for the first two games of the season. Coach Jones is excited about what the season will hold.
