2010 Varsity Fall Soccer Game Summaries
Temple vs Temple Baptist School – 9/17/2010
The Royal Crusaders played at home on Friday afternoon against Temple Baptist School. In the first half the Crusaders were able to score two goals. Brandon Savage had the first goal and Jon Wright had the second goal. The score at half time was 2-0. In the second half the Crusaders controlled the game. The Crusaders were able to score 3 more goals before the end of the game. Scoring the goals were Nick Sexton, Bradley Nicely and Nick Retterer. The Crusaders are now 5-2 overall.
Temple @ Cedar View Christian – 9/16/2010
The Royal Crusaders traveled to Cedar View Christian for their game on Thursday afternoon. In the first half, the Royal Crusaders got off to a great start by scoring 6 goals before the end of the half. The score at half time was 6-0. In the second half the Crusaders continued to dominate the game and score another 7 goals before the end of the game. The final score was 13-0. The Crusaders played great and were glad for the win.
Temple @ Tabernacle Christian School – 9/7/2010
The Crusaders traveled Tuesday afternoon to Hickory, NC to face Tabernacle Christian School. In the first half the Crusaders scored two goals. Nick Retterer scored the first goal after he received the pass from Nick Sexton. In little while later the Nick Sexton scored to give the Crusaders a 2-0 lead at half time. In the second half the Crusaders stepped up the defense and were able to pull away with the 2-0 victory. The Crusaders are now 3-2 overall and will face Cedar View Christian on September 16.
Temple @ Providence – 9/2/2010
The Crusaders traveled to Providence Academy on Thursday afternoon for their game. In the first half the Crusaders fell behind early. Providence was able to score 5 goals before the half. During half time, the Crusaders tried to make some adjustments in preparation for the second half. In the second half, the Crusaders were able to score two goals despite being down 5 goals. Jon Wright scored the first goal, and Nick Retterer scored the second. The team fought hard to end, but lost with the final score of 2-10. The Crusaders will play Tabernacle Christian School on Tuesday, September 7.
Temple @ Maryville – 8/31/2010
The Crusaders traveled across town to face rivals Maryville Christian. In the first half, the Crusaders pressured Maryville early in the half. Brandon Savage kicked the ball into the upper corner and scored the first goal of the game after receiving a pass from Nick Sexton. The Crusaders took a 1-0 lead. A few minutes later Nick Sexton took a corner kick and placed it into the net to give the Crusaders a 2-0 lead. A little later in the half Brad Nicely scored a goal to make it a 3-0 lead. In the second half the Crusaders set it up and played great defense, not allowing Maryville to get back in the game. The Crusaders won the game with the final score of 3-0. The Crusaders are now 2-1 and will play Providence Academy on Thursday, September 2.
Providence Academy vs Temple – 8/26/2010
After a great victory against Maryville Christian on Tuesday, the Crusaders were ready to come out and play against the tough Providence Academy team. In the first half, the Crusaders fell behind by one goal, but kept fighting hard. The score at half time was 0-1. In the second half, the Crusaders stepped it up and got fired up to play. In the beginning of the half the Crusaders were able to score two goals. The first one was just right outside the 18-yard box. Nick Sexton took the kick and placed in into the upper corner of the goal. A few minutes later the Crusaders got the second goal from a set play. Nick Sexton took the kick again and he was about 40-yards out. Once again it went into the back net to give the Crusaders a 2-1. Providence came back and scored four more goals to make the score 2-5. The Crusaders were able to score another goal before the end of the game. Nick Sexton got his third goal of the game giving him his first hat trick of the season. The Crusaders continued to fight hard despite playing a man down for most of second half. The Crusaders lost with the final score of 3-5. The Crusaders are now 1-1 and will play Maryville on Tuesday, August 31.
Maryville vs Temple - 8/24/2010
The Crusaders opened their season at home against rivals Maryville Christian School on Tuesday afternoon. In the first half the Crusaders were not able to score any goals, despite 10 shots on goal with a few of the shots hitting off the cross post. Maryville had some great saves in the first half. The score at half time was tied 0-0. In the second half the Crusaders stepped it up. A few minutes into the second half, Maryville Christian had a handball penalty inside the box, which gave the Crusaders a penalty kick. Nick Sexton took the kick and scored the first goal of the season to give the Crusaders a 1-0 lead. The Crusaders continued to play well and in the 70th minute, Josh Miljenovic hustled to the ball and was able to place it into the goal for the Crusaders second goal of the game. The Crusaders finished the game strong and won their season opener with the final score of 2-0. The Crusaders will next play Providence Academy on Thursday afternoon.
