2010 Lady Crusader Invitational Volleyball Tournament
On Friday afternoon Temple Baptist Academy kicked off the annual Lady Crusaders Volleyball Invitational. The matches on Friday were a round-robin schedule, meaning that each team played every other team once. The Lady Crusaders finished the round-robin matches with a record of 4-1, which gave them the #2 seed for the tournament on Saturday. This gave the team an automatic entry into the semifinals. In the semifinals, the Lady Crusaders faced Northside Christian School. The Lady Crusaders came out fired up to play the game. The team dominated by winning two straight matches for the win and the opportunity to play for the Championship. The Lady Crusaders had a small break before playing rivals Cedar View Christian for the championship. In the first match the Lady Crusaders won the game with the score of 25-21. In the second match, the Lady Crusaders struggled but fought hard. The Lady Crusaders lost match two with the score of 19-25. It came down to the final match for both teams. The game went back and forth. The Crusader fell behind but were able to bounce back and gain the lead back to win the match and the championship. The score of match three was 16-14. The Lady Crusaders won the Invitational and had three ladies named to the all-tournament team. They were Lauren Hickman, Katie Mason, and Joy Gage, with Joy being named as the tournament’s most valuable player.

Tournament Format
On Friday, each team will play every other team in a round-robin format. The clock will be set at twenty minutes. Play is ended on the first point after time expires. The team with the highest point total when time expires is the winner of the game. At any point after the ten-minute mark, the game will be ended in the event of a 20-point deficit. Team records from the round-robin games on Friday will determine the seeding for bracketed play on Saturday. All Matches on Saturday will be the best two of three games to 25 points (15 points in the third game.)
Time-Outs
During the round-robin games each team will be permitted one (1) time-out per game. The clock will be stopped during a time-out.
Tie-Breaker
In the event that a round-robin game ends in a tie, no play-off will occur. Seeding for bracketed play will be determined by the following point system: two (2) points for each wil, one (1) point for each tie. Should this result in a tie for seeding, the following tie-breakers will be used: 1) head-to-head competition; 2) point differential (total points scored minus total points allowed) during round-robin play; 3) coin toss.
