2010 Varsity Volleyball Game Summaries

JV/V vs Tri-Cities Christian – 9/30/2010

After a tough loss on Tuesday night the Junior Varsity and Varsity teams had to face their rival, Tri-Cities Christian School. The Varsity team played the first game and dominated winning 25-21. In the second match, the Lady Crusaders continued to do well and won match two with the score of 25-17. In the third and final match the Lady Crusaders were able to finish off the Eagles of Tri-Cities with the score of 25-17. Anna Hammond was a key player on the team in the game. After the big win it was the Junior Varsity team’s time to play. The Lady Crusaders dominated most of match one, but in the end Tri-Cities came back and won with the score of 26-24. In the second match, the Lady Crusaders bounced back and won with the score of 25-12. It came down to match three and both teams were fighting hard to get the victory. Temple came out fired up but in the end could not hold on a lost the match and the game with the score of 11-15. Autumn Bonifacius led the Lady Crusaders with some great serving. The Junior and Varsity teams will play Cedar View next on Friday, October 1, 2010 at 4:30 p.m.

JV/V @ King’s Academy – 9/28/2010

The Lady Crusaders traveled to King’s Academy on Tuesday afternoon. In the first game the Varsity team took the floor first. The Lady Crusaders got off to a great start, winning the first match with the score of 25-18. In the second match the Lady Crusaders continued to dominate and won match two with the score of 25-16. In the third and fourth matches the Lady Crusaders struggled and lost the tough matches with the score of 22-25 and 23-25. It all came down to the fifth and final match, both teams wanted to get the victory. Temple fought hard but in the end of match the Lady Crusaders lost with the score of 7-15. After the game the junior varsity team played. In the first match the Lady Crusaders lost with score of 16-25. In the second match the Lady Crusaders bounced back and won with the score of 25-20. In the third and final match it was a fight to the finish. In the end, the Lady Crusaders were not able to hang on and lost with the score of 12-15. Tori Gilliland led the Lady Crusaders with 12 straight points in a row. Joy Gage also helped the Lady Crusaders with some powerful servers.

JV/V Lady Crusaders @ Tri-Cities – 9/21/2010

The Lady Crusaders traveled to face rivals Tri-Cities Christian School on Tuesday afternoon. The Varsity team played first against Tri-Cities. In the first match, the Lady Crusaders came out fired up and won 25-16. In the second match the Lady Crusaders continued to dominate and won match two with the score of 25-22. In match three, the team fought hard but lost with the score of 16-25. In the fourth match, the Lady Crusaders bounced back and won the match and the game with the score of 25-16. After the game, the junior varsity team had to play Tri-Cities. In the first match the Lady Crusaders won with the score of 25-12. In the second match the Lady Crusaders fought hard but could not pull out the win. The team lost with the score of 18-25. It came down to the final match. Both teams fought hard to win the match. In the end, the Lady Crusaders lost the match and the game with the score of 9-15. Coach Swain was very pleased with how both teams played. The Ladies played against very tough teams. The Lady Crusaders will travel next to King’s Academy.

JV/V Lady Crusaders @ Cedar View - 9/17/2010

The Junior Varsity and Varsity teams both traveled to Cedar View Christian on Friday evening. In the Junior Varsity Game, the Lady Crusaders played great. The first match the Lady Crusaders lost with the score of 17-25. The Lady Crusaders bounced back and won match two with the score of 25-18. In the third in the final match the Lady Crusaders dominated and won the game with the score of 15-7. After the JV game it was time for the varsity game. In the first match the Lady Crusaders got off to a great start winning the game with the score of 25-22. In match two the Lady Crusaders won easily with the score of 25-18. In the third match the Lady Crusaders struggled and lost with the score 14-25. The team bounced back after losing match three and won the fourth match and game with the score of 25-16. Katie Mason led the team with some great sets. Tori Gilliland helped the team with some great serves. The Lady Crusaders will play rival Tri-Cities next.

V Lady Crusaders vs Berean Academy – 9/16/2010

The Lady Crusaders played at home on Thursday night against Berean Academy. In the first match the Lady Crusaders came out strong and won with the score of 25-17. In the second match the Lady Crusaders struggled, fighting hard to stay in the match but lost with the score of 21-25. In the third and fourth matches the Lady Crusaders bounced back and dominated by winning both matches with the scores of 25-29 and 25-15. The team was led by Joy Gage with some powerful serves. Also leading the Lady Crusaders was Aly Fox, who had 8 points in a row at one point in the game. The Lady Crusaders will face Cedar View Christian in their next game.

V Lady Crusaders @ Maryville Christian / Hamilton Heights – 9/14/2010

The Lady Crusaders traveled to Maryville, TN for a tri-match against Maryville Christian and Hamilton Heights. In the first game the Lady Crusaders faced Hamilton Heights. The Lady Crusaders got off to a great start in match 1 by winning with the score of 25-11. In the second match the Lady Crusaders continued to dominate and won the match and the game with the score of 25-18. In the second game the Lady Crusaders faced a tough Maryville Christian Team. In the first match the Lady Crusaders struggled and lost with the score of 20-25. The Lady Crusaders could not pull out the victory and lost the second match and game with the score of 18-25. This give the Lady Crusaders their second loss of the season. The Lady Crusaders are now 13-2 overall.

V Lady Crusaders @ Seymour Community Christian – 9/9/2010

The Lady Crusaders traveled Thursday night to Seymour, TN to face Seymour Community Christian. In the first match, the Lady Crusaders got off to a great start and won the match with the score of 25-20. In the second match the Lady Crusaders continued to dominate and won match two with the score of 25-19. In match three, The Lady Crusaders finished off Seymour by winning the match and the game with the score of 25-22. The Lady Crusaders played great on the road and are glad to get the victory.

JV/V Lady Crusaders vs Maryville Christian – 9/7/2010

The junior varsity and varsity teams both played on Tuesday night against Maryville Christian. In the varsity game the Lady Crusaders won three straight matches easily to win the game. The scores of the matches were 25-21, 25-11, 25-12. In the JV games the squad won the first match with the score of 25-15. They followed up and won the second match with a score of 25-22 to give the junior varsity team their first win of the season. Coach Swain said that everyone played well together in both games.

V Lady Crusaders @ Berean Academy – 9/3/2010

The Lady Crusaders traveled to Chattanooga, TN on Friday evening. In the first match the Lady Crusaders struggled and lost with the score of 16-25. In the second match the Lady Crusaders fought hard but could not pull out the victory. The final score was 22-25. The Lady Crusaders bounced back and won match three with the score of 25-18, keeping them in the game. Knowing they were down two matches to one, the Lady Crusaders stepped it up to win match four with the score of 25-21. Both teams were working hard to win the fifth match. In the end, the Lady Crusaders were able to pull out a victory and win the fifth match with the score of 15-12. The Lady Crusaders made a great comeback to win the game. The next game for the team is Tuesday, September 7 at home against Maryville Christian.

JV/V  Lady Crusuaders @ Providence – 9/2/2010

The Lady Crusaders traveled to Providence Academy on Thursday afternoon. In the JV Game, the Lady Crusaders faced a tough opponent. The Lady Crusaders fought hard, but lost both matches with the scores of 19-25 and 15-25. Leading the Lady Crusaders was Keegan McElyea, Autumn Bonifacius, and Alli Sexton. In the varsity game, the Lady Crusaders dominated Providence Academy. The team won the first match with a score of 25-23. In match two, Providence won, 22-25. The Lady Crusaders bounced back and won the last two matches to win the game. The scores of the last two matches were 25-18 and 25-23. Ali Fox and Tori Gilliland led the Lady Crusaders with some great serves. The Lady Crusaders are now 5-0 and travel Friday to Chattanooga, TN.

Seymour vs Temple – 8/31/2010

On Tuesday evening the Lady Crusaders faced Seymour Community Christian. In the first match, Temple won easily with the score of 25-11. In the second match the JV played and lost with the score of 18-25. In matches three and four the varsity squad took over and won both matches to win the game. The scores of the matches were 25-18 and 25-22. Leading the Lady Crusaders in serving was Lauren Hickman. The Lady Crusaders are now 4-0 and will face Providence Academy on Thursday, Sept. 2.

Lady Crusaders Invitational – August 27-28, 2010

On Friday afternoon Temple Baptist Academy kicked off the annual Lady Crusaders Volleyball Invitational. The matches on Friday were a round-robin schedule, meaning that each team played every other team once. The Lady Crusaders finished the round-robin matches with a record of 4-1, which gave them the #2 seed for the tournament on Saturday. This gave the team an automatic entry into the semifinals. In the semifinals, the Lady Crusaders faced Northside Christian School. The Lady Crusaders came out fired up to play the game. The team dominated by winning two straight matches for the win and the opportunity to play for the Championship. The Lady Crusaders had a small break before playing rivals Cedar View Christian for the championship. In the first match the Lady Crusaders won the game with the score of 25-21. In the second match, the Lady Crusaders struggled but fought hard. The Lady Crusaders lost match two with the score of 19-25. It came down to the final match for both teams. The game went back and forth. The Crusader fell behind but were able to bounce back and gain the lead back to win the match and the championship. The score of match three was 16-14. The Lady Crusaders won the Invitational and had three ladies named to the all-tournament team. They were Lauren Hickman, Katie Mason, and Joy Gage, with Joy being named as the tournament’s most valuable player.

JV/V Lady Crusaders vs Providence – 8/24/2010

The Varsity Volleyball team opened up their season at home against Providence Academy. Temple won the first two matches with the score of 25-16 and 25-21. The third match of the game went to Providence. The score of that match was 20-25. The Lady Crusaders won the last match with a score of 25-14 to win the game. The Lady Crusaders are now 1-0 and will play next in the Lady Crusaders Volleyball Invitational. After the varsity game, the JV squad played Providence Academy. In the first match the Lady Crusaders won with the score of 25-22. In match two, the Lady Crusaders lost with the score of 18-25. It came down to the final match. The Lady Crusaders put up a hard fight, but in the end could not hold on to win. The score of match three was 11-15. The Lady Crusaders lost a tough game but hope to learn from the game.
